Honda HRC’s Jake Dixon ruled out of competition at Phillip Island after a crash in testing
The rookie #96 has seen the curtain drawn early on his Australian round
Day 2 of the Official Australia Test, ahead of the 2026 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship season-opening race weekend, has unfortunately brought with it the first unfit verdict of the round. Honda HRC’s exciting British rookie Jake Dixon has seen his hopes of a WorldSBK debut Down Under dashed after a Turn 11 tumble in Day 2’s FP1. He was quickly taken to the medical centre, where he was diagnosed with a fractured left wrist and a contusion to his elbow. He will be transported to Alfred Hospital in Melbourne for further treatment.
The news is rotten luck for the Japanese manufacturer’s factory team, as now both of their full-time rider pair are now out with arm injuries. Dixon’s teammate, Somkiat Chantra, suffered a training accident on a stock Honda CBR1000RR-R in training in Malaysia, ruling him out of competition at Phillip Island as well. Tetusta Nagashima (Honda HRC) will be filling in for Chantra.
On the situation, Honda HRC have released the following statement:
“Honda HRC rider Jake Dixon suffered in a crash at Turn 11 this morning during the second day of the Official WorldSBK Test at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.
Following initial checks at the circuit medical centre, it was found that Dixon sustained fractures to the left wrist and a contusion to the left elbow. The British rider will now travel to Melbourne for further medical assessment. As a resultç of the injuries sustained, Dixon has been declared unfit to compete in the upcoming Australian Round. Further updates will be provided in due course.”
